National April Pools Day

On April 11th the Chehalis-Centralia Optimist Club once again joined forces with Thorbecks Fitness Gym to bring smiles to the many faces of the children that came to April Pools Day. This is a national event that the pools do to help teach water safety to children everywhere and we, the optimist ,were included to show bike safety fir the kids. We were able to reach out to 83 children of various ages the simple rules of the road, riding with a proper helmet ,and just to be able to have fun with no risk. The pool is indoors so were were given a small room to use in case of rain and guess what? We had rain. Did this dampen our event? No way! We had Les and Star lead the class and do an imaginary ride through the hallway of the gym. Showing kids some things that can happen when riding a bike. They were asked simple questions and all were able to answer them. We had fun and the kids got excited as well. Our local police department helped by being there to talk to kids and also by donating a girls bike for the raffle. The club purchased a boys bike to add to the raffle and all the kids had to do to get a ticket was come through our class. Needless to say the winners were so excited and everyone walked away with something new. The kids a lesson to ride and us the ability to know the children had fun.

What our club has been up too and upcoming events... We have so much fun..

Come check out one of our meetings...

The Chehalis-Centralia Optimist club members are gathering once again to
hear from 3 outstanding students of the month. They will come have dinner
with us and then answer some questions by the members just so we can
see what the staff of all three schools see in them.
We will do this four more times for a total of 9 students from three schools.
Wow....how hard it gets just having to pick one student from each school as the
Student of the Year.
It is a challenge but one we meet each year.
Feel free to come and join us. Next meeting will be
March 17th at the Twin Cities Senior Center
Hope to see you there.
